Valeri Cranston - Contemporary Artist
Valeri began her journey into art at the age of 7 in piano class. Bored with the lessons she began to draw on the sheet music. A call from the piano teacher to her mother soon got Valeri out of piano class and into an oil painting class. She immersed herself into all things art from that point forward.
Valeri graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1979 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and began working as a graphic artist and illustrator. After completing coursework for an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences she began working in the healthcare profession with critically ill babies and children in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas. After more than a decade working in hospitals, Valeri retired from her healthcare career and moved back into art field through graphic arts and soon began painting off and on again, with a variety of mediums.
Moving from Fort Worth to Granbury, Texas with her husband Jeff in 2007, Valeri found her true inspiration from Granbury’s rich and varied art community. That inspired her to dive back into painting regularly.
Valeri has been in numerous national and international shows winning awards for her work. She has been invited to do demonstrations of her work and has taught art classes.
"I have always been a creative person with art and nature being my refuge. I approach my work with just a color palette and no subject, working layer by layer for true spontaneity."
